Statement of Intent

Introduction:
 The narrative to my 60 -80 seconds body spray advert is molded to conspicuously demonstrate the ongoing dilemmas of teenage girls (14-18 years of age) who go through body dysmorphia. In this advert, a 15 year old Asian female, who's representing teens who are victims of bullying, (both cyber and face-to-face). She is struggling with her physical appearance due to continuous verbal abuse from her peers. At start of the advert the young teen is seen visibly crying on the floor in the corner of her bathroom with her phone facing up so that the the audience can interpret the struggles that she is facing online bulling due to her body odor and physical appearance. Shortly afterwards, I will edit the advert in reverse order to highlight all the negative scenarios she faces throughout the day in school . In the end it shows a shot of the body spray and the teen using it and each day something new about her changes to where she feels comfortable with herself and the bullying stops. I will be using the well known brand, Dove, as I believe Dove is seen as a representation of my carefully constructed story line because Dove has been targeted by the media as being a gateway to having the ideal body and skin that society is satisfied with.

Media Language and Representation:
I will be using 2 locations in the body spray advert. The first location will be at home in a bathroom leading up to the reverse where it is then set in a school. My advert will consist of 3 people.
In my advert it will include Todorov's theory: Equilibrium - The young girl crying on the bathroom floor, the disequilibrium the problems occurring every other day eg messages being sent to her phone about how she smells. However, the new equilibrium is her normal average day goes very different but in a good way and changes are made for her to stop getting bullied. I am going to subvert the representation of how young girls are portrayed in my body spray advert as young girls today in society are portrayed in way that sexually objectifies. Also, I am going to create a desire within my audience, as it will show that using Dove can change a bad day into a good one by jus spraying it on themselves.

Slogan:' Dove... the only way to love' also including a close up of the Dove body spray.   


Audience:

My audience is mainly targeted at 14-18 year old teenage girls as this advert is showing them that they need to love them self for who they are and that using the Dove body spray will make them see it.
