Magazines and advertising assessment: Learner response

Your learner response is as follows:

Create a new blog post called 'Magazines and advertising learner response' and complete the following tasks:

1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).
WWW: Clealy know the CSP'sand some good detail in answers
EBI: used more media terminology

2) Read through your answers again. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1:1
Q2:1
Q3:5
Q4:1
Q5:3
Q6:4

3) Write down five magazine cover conventions. Look back at the original notes if you need help.

4) Look at the mark scheme for this assessment. Question 3 asked you to write about how the CSP magazine covers persuade the audience to buy the product. Copy two bullet point answers for Reveal magazine and two bullet point answers for Tatler magazine from the mark scheme that you didn't use in your original answer.
Reveal features photos that show celebrities in their natural state and heir life style. The photos used are showing a different side to these celebs; which adds onto the dramatic coverlines,
Tatler uses a serif font, this adds onto the more sophisticated and 'posh' theme of the magazine. This reinforces the idea that this magazine is meant for the more upper class of more privileged people.

5) Look at the mark scheme for Question 5 on the NHS Represent advert. Write down three of the people in the NHS Represent advert (include both their name and what they are famous for) and why they subvert the stereotype for gender or race/ethnicity.
-Ade Adepitan is a British television presenter and wheelchair basketball player.
-Mariah Idrissi is a a British Moroccan/Pakistani model - A public speaker and online personality
-Black, female CEO of MOBO – Kanya King

-However people were surprised to see in the advert a disabled basketball player because people who have a disability are not physically able to complete active activities yet Ade has subverted that.

6) For Question 6, read the exemplar answer in the mark scheme. Re-write your own answer to Question 6 making sure you include all three advertising CSPs: OMO advert, Galaxy advert, NHS Represent blood campaign

Representation of women in the 1950's has changed as they are no longer inferior towards men, eg: they were shown to have interest in looking good for their husbands and cleaning and doing housework while their husband was at work. This has changed over time as the OMO advert suggested otherwise.

The Galaxy advert represents women as feminine figures. For example when Audrey Hepburn was shown she was different from other people in her surroundings as she was wearing make up and a cute dress.
This means it's changed as they are only slightly compared to the OMO as they like looking good. This also subverts the representation of women as Audrey is represented as dominant.

The represent advert subverts all representations of women as they are shown doing boxing and being heads of companies. This makes the audience change their views on how the women were stereotyped and how they as represented now.
