3) What stereotypes of women can you find in the 1950s and 1960s adverts? Give specific examples.
Stereotypes i can identify in the 1950's and 1960's adverts are
-all women were housewives / are domestic
-women are bad drivers / women are silly and get into accidents
-a women is portrayed as a mans accessory / controlled by men
4) What stereotypes of women can you find in the post-2000s adverts? Give specific examples.
-women are obsessed with their appearance
-women aren't interested in athletic things
5) How do your findings suggest representations of gender have changed over the last 50 years?
Representations of gender have changed over the last 50 years in a positive way. Nowadays women in adverts are seen as more natural and are expressed in more empowering ways. In 1950's and 1960's there were stereotypes that made the current generation now see the women back then as powerless and domestic.
