'Representation'.

1) List the people, places and groups represented in the poster.

In this poster there are 7 young students ( still in school ) who look quite threatening due to the equipment they're holding. Their surroundings looks dull and their clothing looks quite low in quality suggesting they might come from a poor neighbourhood.

2) Are there any stereotypes you can identify?

One stereotype I can identify in this poster is the stereotype that teenagers are dangerous to society. As this poster shows them holding threatening equipment people may think that the stereotype is true. Another one I can identify is that black kids are violent. From this poster people may agree because the black actors are the ones with bold facial expressions which connotes hatred and could be menacing.

3) What is the preferred reading of this poster?

The preferred reading of this poster is that these teenagers are dangerous. They are presented in a threatening way as they are staring directly at the camera. Weapons are also being shown which can be seen as a violent film.

4) What is the oppositional reading of this poster?

The oppositional reading for this film poster would be that these young children are misunderstood and are kind-hearted but the way they're portrayed in this poster doesn't make them look like it. The stereotypes create this image that people are quick to believe and it doesn't always mean that's how the youth of this generation is and what society today thinks.
