The medium shot angle allows a point-of-view from another member of the policemen. This allows the consumer to see the reactions of the policemen as they're looking for the criminal. It also gives us an idea of the background which is a metro train station. This gives the consumer an idea of how busy the location is and how difficult is will be to catch the criminal as there is many people in the metro train station.

This long shot of a damaged car shows the audience the necessity of the chase, this is because cars often connote speed and a chase and the fact that Tom Cruise's character is running past the car suggests that he is going to be involved in a chase too. This makes the audience feel nervous and anxious since they are so eager to find out what happens to Tom Cruise's character.

This close-up of Tom Cruise shows his face with a worried and puzzled look on his face. This shows that he is in a situation that he wasn't expecting. This makes the audience feel confused too as they don't know what's going to happen next.
